Ceiling Tiles: FAQ
Q. How can I calculate how many tiles I need?
A. Start by multipling the width by the length of the area needed for a drop ceiling. Now divide by 4 if you want a 2' x 2' ceiling or by 8 if you want a 2' x 4' ceiling. the number you get is the number of tiles needed. Most then add 10% to that number to ensure they have enough tiles in case they make a mistake in cutting the tiles.
Q. How can I calculate the grid I need?
A. Add all sides and then divide by 8 and this is how many wall perimeter moldings you will need, next multiply the length by the width to get the square footage of the area needed for a drop ceiling.
Now divide square foot by 16 and this number of main's you need, then divide the square foot of the area by 8 (for a 2'x4') and by 4 (for a 2' x 2' grid) for the Cross T's you will need.
Q. Are your tiles resistant to water spots?
A. Yes, our Designer Series and Genesis tiles are 100% resistant to water spotting or stains.
Q. Is your tile easy to clean?
A. Yes, You can use soap
and water, a degreaser, etc to clean the tile(s).
Q. Do your tiles bow, bend in humidity or warp like most do?
A. No, they can handle humidity with no problem, they will not sag, bow or bend due to humidity.
Q. What
about UV?
A. Genesis tiles are UV resistant.
Q. Are
your tiles compliant?
A. Yes, our tiles are compliant with USDA and FDA.
Q. What about Fire rating?
A. Class A flame spread and Smoke Index rating.
Q.
What cost benefit is there to using your tile over others?
A. Depending on the tile you
were going to use, in some cases ours will be cheaper, but, no matter what tile
you use ours will be much cheaper in the long run. Thats because you will not
have to replace them due to A/C condensation, or plumbing, A/C leaks, Roof
Leaks, Mold, Mildew, Bacteria, Bowing (due to humidity), and they are much
easier to clean.
Q. What about IAQ (indoor air quality) and SBS (Sick Building
Syndrome)?
A. Indoor air quality is increased when using Genesis tiles, since our
tiles are mold, bacteria, and mildew free. Sick building syndrome is decreased
when using Genesis tiles.
Q. What about Bacteria, Mold and Mildew?
A. Genesis tiles are Mold, bacteria and mildew resistant.
Q. How
difficult are your tiles to install?
A. They are extremely easy to
install. They will fit into any standard 2 by 2 or 2 by 4 grid layout. Other
than where you might have to cut to fit as you would with any tile. Ours only
require a utility knife to score the tile and then break away the unwanted
area.
Q.
Will we need to use some form of clip to hold your tiles in place?
A. For the most part no, less
than you would for many acoustical tiles. We installed the tiles on a porch to
see how they would do in weather, such as wind, rain, etc. And to date with
some wind gusts they have not moved at all and look as good as they did when we
installed them.
